TravelTO: The Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall
Hey everyone! I've decided to share #MyDubai experience with you all in three parts. Dubai has been a place i've always wanted to visit every since I read about the construction of the Burj Khalifa when I was probably about 8 years old, and afterwards in my first year of high school where I drew the Burj Al Arab for an art project. I've always been drawn to the destination, and I never imagined I would have the opportunity of actually visiting!
The trip was very spontaneous, and I only got 4 days out of Dubai, but those 4 days only made me want to return, which i'm in fact already planning on doing. I got to visit many malls, and a few of the actual touristy destinations. Unfortunately, no beach, but i'll save that for next time.
Dubai Mall
Visiting one of the biggest malls in the UAE was very hectic. Every store you could pretty much think of was in there, and there were a lot of unique attractions as well, such as a Skating Rink, and an Aquarium. I only bought one item from the mall, which was a jean jacket, but i'm saving that from a haul i'm planning on doing. The mall is beautiful, but be prepared to get a workout in, because walking in the mall for a day will burn a lot of calories!
Burj Khalifa (Entrance within the Dubai Mall)
Visiting the biggest building and the biggest tower in the world was really surreal. On the way to the elevators that led up to the Burj Khalifa was filled with information on the construction of the tower. So basically construction start in 2004 and took 6 years to complete. Going up the elevator was so quick! it took an exact minute to go up to the observation deck. It was also a smooth ride with the exception of that weird feeling you get when your ears feel plugged. There were no windows within the elevator so you were unable to really see how high you were going up, which was a little sad but once you reached the top and saw the view you totally forget about that elevator. I went at night, and it was beautiful. All the lights in the city were lit up, which was really unforgettable.
