Guide to Thrifting

Thrifting makes shopping an experience that's more exciting than just browsing a mall. Thrifting allows you to find and discover unique pieces of clothing while saving yourself a lot of money! If thrifting is done right and mixed with the right clothing you can create an amazing outfit! Here's my guide to thrifting.
Let me first start with why you should thrift. It's a way to find unexpected pieces. Keep an open mind while thrifting, it's a great way to try something new, and save money. Here are some tips to keep in mind when you thrift!

Never Settle
Don't purchase anything you're not in love with. Fall in love with that you find, because chances are if you're not set on the piece, you won't choose to wear it over the clothing you already have. Just because things are cheap doesn't mean you buy them. You want to find something that you know you'll use and you can envision as a part of an outfit you can wear.

Spread out visits
Don't go to your thrift store every week. You'll end up seeing the same things over and over again. It's important to spread your visits so that they get new inventory in, and you'll have new items to choose from.

Choose Your Thrift Store Wisely
Some thrift stores that are popular may price their items a little higher. You might want to find somewhere else to shop if you're really looking for a deal. For example, in my area Value Village is more expensive than Goodwill or Salvation army. You could also go to markets where they might have some cheap finds.

YELP!
Use the Yelp app to search for thrift stores near you. This way you can figure out which one's closest to you, find new stores, and view any reviews left by customers.

Donate
Don't forget to donate to your local thrift store. Let someone else use the things you don't use often! After all without donations there would be no thrift stores. So definitely donate occasionally, and clean out your closet for some more space!
